ChildCareConnect Mobile Educator

As a ChildCareConnect service provider, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality child care services to families in various locations and settings in Vancouver. You will be responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment for children, implementing child-development age-appropriate activities, and ensuring their well-being during in-home mobile child care sessions.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Child Care Services:
    • Provide child care services on a mobile basis, catering to families in diverse locations in Vancouver.
    • Create a safe and nurturing environment for children during mobile child care sessions.
    • Implement age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Safety and Well-being:
    • Prioritize the safety and well-being of children at all times.
    • Maintain a clean and organized mobile child care unit, ensuring it meets safety standards.
    • Follow health and safety protocols in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Communication:
    • Establish clear and effective communication with parents or guardians regarding child care schedules, activities, and any relevant information.
    • Collaborate with families to understand and accommodate individual child care needs.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability:
    • Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to different environments and meeting the unique needs of each family.
    • Adjust child care activities based on the age, interests, and developmental stage of the children in the mobile program.
  • Compliance with Regulations:
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to care services.(Child Care Licensing Regulations)
    • Stay informed about licensing requirements and maintain necessary certifications.
  • Professionalism:
    • Uphold a high standard of professionalism when interacting with children, families, and community members.
    • Represent the ChildCareConnect child care service positively in various locations.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in early child care or school age child care setting.
  • Must have Early Childhood Education Certification or School Age development education.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to various environments and work independently.
  • Ability to travel accompanied with a resources bag.
  • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.


Working Conditions:

  • This position involves traveling to various locations to provide child care services.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in working hours to accommodate various schedules, including evenings and weekends is a must for this position.


Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract


Contract length: 12 months


Wage: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour


*ECE wage enhancement not available


Expected hours: 20 to 35 per week

School Age Educator

Position Summary

This position works effectively with the assigned program team to implement a safe, developmentally appropriate, quality, inclusive and child-centered After School Care Program to meet the needs of the children. This position provides support and direct care to school age children, encouraging their natural intellectual, physical and emotional growth. 


This position works in a licensed school age program. We encourage project-based and democratic environment.

Reports to: 

The Centre Supervisor or, in her/his/their absence, the CEO. 


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


1. In consultation with team members, plans, implements and evaluates developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor opportunities and experiences based on child’s interests to meet the individual and group needs of the children and families of the program.

  • Develops and implements inclusive opportunities along side children that foster an understanding of diversity and provides diverse and inclusive experiences and play materials; 
  • Maintains regular documentation and reports on progress, behaviour of children and other outstanding needs;
  • Develops individualized and group curriculum based on children’s interests; 
  • Utilizes technology to capture, report and enhance the children’s experience;
  • Maintains liaisons with professionals such as, school personnel, licensing and church delegates. 


2. Provides guidance and care for children of the program in accordance with the philosophy, policies and procedures of Projectkids and CCFL regulations. 

  • Utilizes modeling, observing, questioning, redirecting, positive language, and positive reinforcement; 
  • Encourages learning and developing positive self-concepts; 
  • Encourages healthy problem-solving skills. 


3. Maintains a healthy and safe environment for children in accordance to CCFL regulations and Projectkids policies and procedures. 

  • Maintains health records and administers first aid and medication as required; 
  • Observes, removes and reports potential hazards; 
  • Attends to physical needs of children, promotes sound personal hygienic practices for staff and children, and follows universal health care precautions and guidelines; 
  • Understands and follows legal requirements for child abuse reporting. 


4. Maintain positive and supportive relationships with parents and families. 

  • Respects the individuality of all parents/families and is sensitive to the stresses they may experience; 
  • Ensures that daily communication with parents and school staff is open, respectful and confidential (ie. discusses plans for family conferences where appropriate; accommodates the families’ instructions within the group routines, wherever possible); 
  • Confers with parents with regards to unusual and problematic issues; 
  • Encourages families to participate at the centre, and plays an active role in keeping families updated regarding centre and Society information; 
  • Provides families with relevant information regarding community resources; 
  • Responds to the changing needs of children and families with flexibility; 
  • Advocates for children and their families; 
  • Liaises with the school staff to enhance learning opportunities and support for children and families. 


5. Works with the educator team members to maintain the day-to-day operations of the program. 

  • Recognizes and respects all confidential matters of Projectkids and its clients, program and staff; 
  • Takes an active role in developing and maintaining effective team relationships among staff (ie. supporting colleagues, promoting open communication, & maintaining respectful relationships always); 
  • May provide work direction to auxiliary staff, volunteers and students; 
  • Attends regular staff and society meetings; 
  • Displays exemplary work habits (e.g. reliable, respectful, punctual, etc.); 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor. 


Qualifications: 

  • Education, training and 2 years experience in a school age   childcare setting;
  • Completed 20 hours of the “Responsible Adult” course;
  • High Five: PHCD 100 Certificate an asset;
  • Post basic training in school age care, Project-based programming, Reggio Emilia, recreation training, education fields, or related experience preferred;
  • First Aid training and certification required; 
  • Food Safe Certificate an asset;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill planning and implementing activities with school aged children; 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; 
  • Experience working with a variety of cultures and family dynamics; 
  • Responsible, reliable, well-organized, flexible, team player.

 

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 21 per week

Schedule: 4 hour shift

Education: DCS / DEC (preferred)

Work Location: In person
